In this episode, Brannon talks about the power of doing something that seems crazy — and how taking bold steps toward your calling can lead to deep connection, growth, and healing. They explore the idea that depression and anxiety may be signs you’re not living your purpose, and why even small, intentional actions can spark transformation.

Okay. I think we’re live. Chase without Tyler, you know, our uh trustedum technology guy who’s just so good at technology. What’s he doing right now? Yeah, let’s talk about that. So guys, welcome to the show. Welcome to TherapyBrothers. Uh we got a little bit different situation going on today, but it’s going to be awesome. So I’m excited
Light & Symbolism
about it. But about 20 minutes ago, I get a text from Tyler. So Tyler’s up inAlaska and he’s uh he’s just hanging out at a lodge in Alaska, I guess. Just doing, you know, what he does, I guess. Um but the guide hit him up this morning and said, “Hey, this the silver salmon arestarted running. Do you want to go up on the river and catch as many fish as you can?” And I think there should be anunspoken rule between us that he doesn’t even need to text me. He could just go out and catch some fish, you know? So,um, yeah, but doesn’t he has to bring you some back, right? That’sAbsolutely. Absolutely. He better bring some back. And, um, yeah. So, uh, yeah. So, he’s off fishing, I guess. So, so I got, uh, one of my a person I probably
Purpose Behind It
like better than Tyler anyways with me. So, um, so I don’t know if you guys rememberthis guy, but this is Chase. He’s our uh we we we we’ll mention him on the podcast once in a while. He’s been aguest before. Um but he’s uh he’s as important to our platform and ourpodcast as any as either one of us. So he does a ton for us behind the scenes.Just just does a ton of work. And he had a baby. Your wife had a baby last week or two weeks ago.Yeah. Yeah. So can you can you tell the bags? Yeah. I mean so he’s going off like 20minutes of sleep right now. Um, but baby’s healthy, right?Yeah. Baby’s healthy, mama’s healthy. So, yeah. Heck yeah. That’s what it’s all about. Um, so that’s awesome. So, um,Chase came on for a couple reasons. One, uh, I really want to talk to him about what we’re going to talk about today.
Impact on Others
And two, uh, we have our drawing. And so, it’s this is the moment of truth. This is the exciting time. We had a lot of entries. Um, and uh, we have here, ifyou’re watching on YouTube, we have here with us what’s called the Bart Cup. And the Bart Cup plays a significant role atthe Rising Sun Retreat. Um, but the BART Cup is named after a legend. Um,somebody who’s helped us a ton with Rising Sun. Um, somebody who I think hasattended pretty much every one. Mhm. Um, yeah, that’s right. So, he knows who heis. Uh, guys who have attended Rising Sun know know who he is, but that’s why
Sunrise Moments
it’s called the Bart Cup. Um, so we thought, you know, it would be pretty cool for us to do this drawing of whogets the free pass to Rising Sun out of the Bart Cup. So, Chase is with us today. He has the BART cup with him. Um,he’s loaded it full of all the entries, right, Chase? It doesn’t look like much, but there’s actually 260uh names in there. And 260? Yeah. So, we had 40 40 uh contestants uhcome participate in this, which is pretty awesome. Whether it was people that showed up as guests on the podcastor uh that shared our episodes with with people. And it’s uh dude, it’s chuck
Vulnerability & Connection
full. So, that’s awesome. That’s awesome. We ready? Yeah. Don’t Don’t do it yet, Chase. Weneed a little like drum roll, you know, like, you know, just got to shake it up a little bit. Shake it up. Shake it up. This is all fair. He can’t see the names. That’sright. Going to hold it above his head so that he’s not cheating anybody into this. The thing is it’s uh the the cup itself is nice and sticky from the last time wehad a Oh, nice. Spray some some of that sparkling cider. So, all right.Okay. You ready? I got the one. You got the one. K. Yeah. Let’s see this. Here we go. Who isit? And it is Alex. Alex. Okay. Okay. So, I’m going to I’m going to holdit up just to to show. I don’t know. How does Alex know who he is? There might be more than one Alex.Yeah. So, hey, that’s what he sent us a text with that name. So, we we’ve gothim on our roster. So, we know who he is. Yeah, we know who he is. We’ll send him a text letting him know that he won. But, Alex, you are the winner. Not Not all Alex’s. Just Alex. Alex, congratulations to the one, the only, the Alex. Yeah, I can’t wait to go.Yeah, I can’t wait to see you at Rising Sun. Um, it’s going to be a blast. It’s It’s You know, Chase is also veryinvolved in Rising Sun. I love it. Yeah, it’s it I mean, it’s it’s one ofthe best things we do, right, Chase? It is. I actually You say one of the best. I’d say theretreats and events, those are the best things we do. It’s just it’s kind of the culmination of everything that we loveand and do, you know, experience-wise. So, I Yeah, I’ve been pumped about it.I’m glad that we’re we’re on the books for another one. Getting excited for it. The thing about it is is we enjoy it.
Story About His Mom
It’s, you know, when we say it’s one of the best, we enjoy it. But the thing that we enjoy the most is just watchingum people and watching men have life-changing experiences that shifteverything for them and help he heal their trauma and really get at the root of things um for the healing thatthey’re desiring. So, that’s why it’s the best. Um we have fun. I mean, we wehang out, we have a good time, but the reason it’s the best is because it’s awesome to watch. So,um All right. Should we shift gears, Chase? Yeah, it sounds great. Okay. So, I uh I told Chase that Iwasn’t going to let him go after we did the drawing because I wanted to talk to him about something. Um soChase is a unique human being um in many ways and um one thing about him is that
How He Met His Wife
he’s very um I’d say intentional and alsoconnected and he listens to to to prompings and things and he actuallyfollows through and does a lot of things. So, um, anything from making music to setting up retreats to whatwe’re going to talk about today. So, um, Chase, could you tell us about yoursunrise goal? Like what is it? Like what what like what does it entail? Like helphelp me in the audience understand this thing. All right. Yeah. So, uh that you knowjust simply it is uh my goal to watch 10,000 sunrises to experience 10,000sunrises with 10,000 people within my lifetime.Okay. So, wait let let’s let that sink in for just a second. So, how many how many you know 365 days in a year, right? Like if we do the math
Sunrise Invite Cards
out 10 there because there’s only one sunrise, right? Yeah. Every day. Yeah. That’s how I treat it.Yeah. I don’t think there’s multiple. I think there’s one. So So youropportunity is 365 in a year. Um 10,000.What are we talking here? We’re we’re basically talking the rest of my life. Um and and you know, I I Ikind of joke about it myself. um that I’m I’m pretty tired, you know, all allthe time. I’m pretty tired. But I broke down the math. I started this goal back in 2011and it’s ebbed and flowed a little bit and I’ve really recommitted to it in the last few years.
Rejection & Strangers
uh if if I watch at least five sunrises a week for the rest of my life up to thea the average uh life expectancy of a white uh American male, then I’ll liveto 76. Okay. And I can I can make it. I can pull it off.Holy cow. Yeah. We’ll see how it goes. That Holy C that is so much waking upearly. I mean, we’re talk we’re talking like very limited sleeping in opportunities, right? Um and and when Chase wakes up early, uh he’ll sunrise with people that liveaways from him. So, I mean, some days you’re getting up like way early, right, Chase? I I actually I remember watchingone with your sister Casey on she was over in Boston on the east coast andyou know it’s early over there and I was just sitting in a field out here uh onZoom watching a sunrise with her um you know have watched it with people
Why Do Something Insane?
all the way as far as New Zealand is uh and the Philippines uhoh that’s cool up in Canada so you know just all over the place most you Utahbeing the epicenter where I live and branching out. But umthe the thing that I have a hard time emphasizinguh you know when when people people are like, “Oh, you do that? That’s kind of interesting.” And they they’ll just kindof think that I like sunrises. But I I don’t care about the sunrise. I I care
What If I Did This?
about what it symbolizes and I care about the opportunity for deepmeaningful stillness, for deep meaningful connection. And it’sone of the best times that I’ve I’ve been able to find um if I can integrateit into my my daily routine, my my life just flows better from there. Um, soyeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you you kind of jumped the gun there because I was going to say why, you know, why do this? Andbut but right there, you just gave gave some answers. We’re we’re talking about I mean, the sunrise is beautiful, right?Right. Yeah. It’s it’s beautiful and I I imagine it’s beautiful every day. Right. Umbut the things you just said like uh we talk about we call it your daily charge.Um doing your dailies like taking care of yourself. you just nailed some reallyimportant key things that we preach about dailies which is um solitude and
The Bike Trip
serenity um stillness uh connection and then you’re adding ina lot of times you’re out in nature so you’re connecting to the earth you’re connecting to God um so yeah this goalmakes a lot of sense well kind of it’s still it’s still massive [Laughter]Oh, go ahead, Chase. Well, I was just, you know, it it all the way that it it began it itwas kind of like this idea that popped into my head and and it felt so absurd, you know, the theum the the I was I remember I was uh just sitting at church uh listening to thisguy kind of lecture on about a a topic and I had totally checked out. I was not thinking about anything he was sayingand and just had these these feelings of, you know, remembering beautiful
Acting on the Idea
mornings. I had just done a pretty uh incredible uh bike ride uh across the USand got to visit family along the way. I was I did a a three-month trip um ridingmy bike from Portland, Oregon to East Tennessee. and and a lot of the mornings that or a lot of the the places that Istayed, I just would camp, you know, kind of off on the highway somewhere. Um, and you would think after biking allday long that you’d want to sleep in, but the sun would come up and it wouldwake me up and it would be this kind of natural, very organic experience. Andum, I would be alert and attentive. I’d feel connected and grounded and it wasjust the perfect way to jump start things. And I I remember kind of sittingin in this church reflecting like, man, what was what is it about that time of day that’s so profound and um and and itjust kind of captured me for some reason. Like I didn’t know I didn’t have the answer. I just I had some curiosity
Don’t Die With Regret
around it and it was like well I should probably explore this and decidedyou know just I don’t know how your mind works but um once an idea that’s likesignificant latches on it’s like I’m I’m obsessed with it and it it’s it’s likeit possesses me in a sense and um hopefully it’s a healthy idea but uhwith this one it was what if I watched the sunrise every day for a full year and invited people to go out with mejust as kind of like a jump starter, you know, see see what that would be like. And I I followed through with that andum I ended up going with over 200 people that year um different mornings and uhthis you know living in this was living in Tallahassee over in Florida and um Iloved loved those mornings and looking back there there’s just so much that unifies us is part of what I’m learning.
Depression as a Signal
you know, I spend a lot of lot of times with other people. Most most mornings right now are by myself. Um, but eitherway, it’s just just that opportunity to to slow things down a little bit, which, you know, I I get so distracted. You know, I got got one of these sayings. I I’m on my computer with you right now,and it’s so easy to just get lost in the the minutia. Um, just get captured by bydifferent things. and and this is kind of an an attempt to to break that a little bit and see if there’s anotherway, you know. Yeah, I love it. Um could you could you talk a little bit about you youmentioned earlier, you know, what that what what it represents. Um so what isthe a sunrise represent to you? Yeah. Oh, great. Um this isI’ve been working on this one for a while. Uh no I
Facing the Fear
if you think just about the symbol itself right from the most obvious isfrom dark to light. Okay but there’s also from down to upthere’s also from cold to warm. There’s also from sleep to awake. Um and uh youcould say from empty to full. you could say from death to life. If you thinkabout how the sun, I mean, powers everything that that we we have. Um, wewould not exist. Yeah. I I think there’s it’s it’s absurd how long we would lastif the sun just decided to turn off in an instant. We would we would be gone in that instant, too.Yeah. It would it would we would we would basically freeze uh instantly. But um and in my relationship with higherpower, I think that’s where I felt the deepest connection isthe symbol of of God manifested in my life. Um and his presence. It’s one waythat I I connect to it. And and I I love transformation. And I mean, you know, we
Soul-Sucking Reasonableness
we we were talking about Rising Sun earlier, and you know, not not to harpon it too much, but like the reason that I’m involved in anything that you andTyler and myself participate in together, it’s because I love watching transformation. I love experiencing itmyself. Um, and I think personally my belief is like that’s why we’re here onthis planet is to experience transformations. Whether it’s a light switch type thing, which sometimeshappens if we’re lucky, uh, or more often it is like a sunrise. It’s likeexperiencing that first ray of light light during dawn and and then boom, fullness. Um, it’s it’s beautiful. the you know there’s a reason why we call itrising sun and yeah it’s s o n but we call it rising sun because
Do Something Bold
I like your shirt by the way. Yeah. Yeah. Hey someone designed this you know. Yeah. How about that? It looks great. I told Tyler this is the best one andand he he disagrees. So um but yeah it’s right. It’s, you know,as you were going through that list, I I’ve never even stopped and thought about that, you know, down to up, deathto life. Like I just think, oh, sunrise, like, oh, here comes the light, youknow? I like to watch the light like come start coming toward me, you know? It’s like, here it comes. Um, but talk
God & Purpose
about symbolism. Like there’s so much symbolism to to that andjust intention w with your goal. Like it’s not just I I guess what I’m sayingis it’s not just like, you know, Chase is some influencer who’s just trying to show off that he he’s doing this crazything, you know? Not that that’s bad, you know, but there’s a meaning to it and there’s a purpose to it and there’sa a reason for it. And I know Chase that it’s already profoundly changed yourlife obviously, but it’s al also had a massive influence on the people thathave been able to go with you. And if I could just ask you a little bit about them, um just some of theexperiences that you’ve had with them. Um and uh just some things that standout or things that you can think of. you you’ve you’ve watched sunrises with a aa vast array of of humans, right? Um just a ve a very unique individuals andum and and you know, you don’t have to talk specifically about them unless you want to. Um but could you speak to thatjust a little bit? What it’s been like to be with other people and to experience them experiencing thesunrise? Yeah. Um, man. So, I’m going to show just a couple ofpictures. And granted, you probably won’t be able to see them super well on on the on the uh camera at all, but so this isthis is a picture from a couple weeks ago. Um, this is my mom and myselfum in Florida. I got to we got to go take a a trip to visit and be out thereand and something that I’ll you know I I want to pitch it to anybody that’slistening to take it up and do it yourself. Not not that you need to do it every day, but just kind of a challengeto get out there and go connect with somebody that you want to deepen your relationship with. Um and that can beanybody. And I I show that picture of my mom uh as on one side of the spectrum. That’s somebody that I already have a pretty close relationship with. And that morning sitting quietly side by side, nodistractions, no technology interfaces. Um just being able to chat for anywhere. You know, usually I’m out there for about an hour with whoever I’m with. And it’s like walls naturally come down andtopics that matter start to surface andpeople soften. Um it can even be kind of scary actually for anybody that’s notready for that level. It’s it’s vulnerable. Yeah, it’s vulnerable. It is the epitome of a vulnerable situation. There’s intimacy, vulnerability, like that stuff’s going on naturally in that space. And I was ableto learn a few things about my mom that I had never heard of um never known umabout a a relationship, a friend um that had passed away when she was in highschool and it redirected her lifehaving um experienced that loss. And you haven’t heard about her experience? I’ve never heard about that. And it wastremendous how it impacted her. Wow. UmI my my wife uh I mean shameless plug ifyou’re if you’re a single person out there and you’re looking for a good way to you know strike up a date withsomebody. Um if if they are willing to go with you. Uh my wife is the kind ofperson uh she she’s somebody that I I met and connected with during a sunrise. No way. Really? I didn’t know that. Yeah. So, uh Chelsea, she’s uh she’s thebest. This is just quick quick picture of her. She and I met briefly when we were in Florida, but then we connectedum once more when we were living out here. Ironically, I was trying to set her up on a date with my little brother.um and found out that she didn’t live in the same town as him. So I um I askedher to go share a sunrise with me and uh she and I sat.Baby Sage is here because of a sunrise. Baby number three. Heck yeah. It’s all because of a sunrise. Um so I you know it’s it’samazing the the level of depth and connection that you can experience and and I’ve I’ve gone with total strangers.I I have these like these little cards. I keep them in the back of my phone in this case and it’s just like a a littlew watercolor uh not business card, but it’s just like an invite. It just says free sunrise and it has my phone numberon it and um I I’ve given outuh hundreds of these and uh I get rejected quite a bit. um probably farmore than I get embraced for that experience. But um I’ve been able tomeet some complete strangers and connect with them. Um, and you know something II know be you’re asking these questions and it it and to kind of stoke upconversation and and learn more about my experience. But I Ikind of want to shift to the applicability of of the question that that we have for the title of thispodcast. Why should I do something insane? And to you know some extent like this this is a pretty insane thing tocommit to something like this for the rest of my life. Like I could stop tomorrow and be like I’m not I’m donedoing that. Um but but what the I think the thequestion that I coupled with this intention is what would my life looklike if I did this I did this thing. What if I did thisthing? Like seriously, what what would it what would my experience be? What could it be? And all that potential juststirring, you know, that um even that uh that bike trip um that Ithat I did uh you know, I can’t believe it’s been this long. It’s been That’s a legitimate little little rideyou did, Chase. Yeah, it’s it was like thousands of miles by myself just just pedaling outin the middle of nowhere. Um, and the way that it came about was my my dadlived in New Mexico. I was living in Florida. My dad said, “Hey, Chase, you should come out and visit. We haven’tseen you in a couple of years.” I’m like, “Dad, I can’t afford a plane ticket. It’s too expensive.” Said,”Well, why don’t you just ride your bike, you know?” So, he’s cracking a joke about it. And we’re laughing laughingand and later on that night, I was like, “Holy hell, what if I rode my bike?” andjust surprised him like he would lose his mind. Um, and it was, you know, itwas pretty insane to do something like that. But that idea, you know, I mentioned that fixation earlier once itplants itself in you. I think there’s kind of an intuition that that we’re given ofwhat what could be spiritually rejuvenating or redemptive or um youknow thing. It’s like a a small checklist of things that God would heknows we would love if we did it. And that’s one of those things for me andsame with the sunrise. So like I’m curious like how what’s been your experience with this type of thing?Well, this this is one of my favorite topics and it’s really been on my mind lately. Um, so I went I went to aconcert last week, uh, the Lumers concert, and I I didn’t really know muchabout them, but, uh, I I love their music was great, and I’ve heard a lot of it before, and but the dude is up therejust singing his heart out, and, um, his brother had died a month earlier of a aheart attack just out of his 39-year-old brother. And so he was like full of emotion and just like just singing andand he was drawing from the crowd for for healing and just good energy and andI was watching him and I was like, man, that dude’s in his element, you know, like good for him. Like he’s he’s puthe’s put himself in a position where he’s taking risk and he’s he’s flowing.Like he’s in a state of flow. And it it got me thinking like uh Wayne Dyer, oneof my favorite philosophers and just guys, um he he says, “Don’t die withyour music left still left in you.” And I think that, you know, we’re called todo certain things and we’re all uniquely called to do certain things. And if wedon’t listen to that call and if we don’t act on that call, then we experience uh a couple of things. We’llwe’ll experience depression because we feel unfulfilled like uh like there’s more to life. Isn’tthere more to this? Like what the heck? Like so we’ll feel a sense of depression. Sometimes there’s thisangst. there’s this like almost anxiety, this uncomfortable feeling of like thereI should be doing something, you know. Um butbut those feelings, depression, anxiety, those things, they’re actually trying tonudge us toward stepping into our purpose and our light. Um and a lot oftimes people don’t listen. And and the people that walk in my office, Chase, are the ones that are just like, “I’mdepressed. What’s the point of life? I’m addicted.” Well, you know, wake up and watch a flipping sunrise if that’s what ifthat’s what you’re called to do. You know, like do something crazy. Um, youknow, one morning I woke up and thought I want to be on a game show. Next thing you know, I was on a game show, you know, like I want to start a podcast. Icould go on and on. the but but like so many people don’t do what you do Chase. So many people when they get that feeling of like wait I’m supposed to ride my bike across the countrythey don’t actually think like I I maybe I should really consider this. They think they think uh so many people got that business in in that they’re going to start in their mind that theythat they just won’t start because they’re too scared. um they got that book that’s in them. They they they knowthe wisdom is there, but they’re just not going to sit down and write it because maybe no one will read it.Um you know, there’s always a reason. There’s a so so even though the angst is there, the the I call it the thresholdguardian, the voices come up and say, “No, no, no, no. 10,000 you’re freakingcrazy. Don’t what like don’t try that.” um you know. So yeah, you got me on mysoap box, Chase. No, I I man, you’re you’re hitting it dead on for me, too, because uh I’mactually feeling a little bit of uh Oh, what a You know, I’ve I’m I feellike there’s I’m doing some good in some of these areas, but I do have a threshold guardian over here that’s uhthat’s saying, “Hey, this project series that you want to do like you should.”Yeah. It would it would take time and effort and you just had a baby and you don’t have the time.Yeah. Yeah. So that just that that prick of my conscience uh calling me to toact. Uh I feel it right now. Yeah. Um and I I think there’s there’s somethingto that uh it’s and I mentioned that intuition there. I I think it is anintuition. It’s like the thing that you’re drawn towards, you feel called towards, but those threshold guardianspop up and they say, come up with every kind of excuse that that you can come up with. Um, one of my favorite quotes, Ilove this book. It’s called the power of moments. Um, by Dan and Chip Heath. Ihighly recommend it to anybody. Um, but the quote is, “Beware of the reason thesoul sucking force of reasonableness.” It’s like, I love it. Wow. You know, howhow much of our lives are we just trying to be reasonable? Um, and you know what you’re what you’re trying to call uponhere is get outside of that. Like do something crazy. Don’t don’t go rob abank or do something foolish, but like do something that you wouldn’t do and see how much color and vibrance thatadds to your life. I think the the key, Chase, is is to really be attuned to toGod and to our purpose. So, like if let’s just say that I like really andand I wasn’t in denial and out to lunch here, but let’s just say I felt like Iwas supposed to go be an astronaut, right? Like right now I’m just turned 46, you know, just four kids, you know, therapist guy, but I’m supposed to be an astronaut. Well, if I really am attuned and Ireally got that answer, then what should I do? you should go be an astronaut be.So, so what might happen is I go and I try to be this astronaut and I go backto school. I start studying engineering and physics and I start just failing all my classes just and that’s probably whatwould happen. But I, you know, it’s been a while, right? Yeah, it’s been a little while. So, I just start failing all myclasses and there’s bumps in the road and I never get to space. I never get there.Right. Should I have still went and tried to be an astronaut? Hell yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that’s the point, right?Like like you might die. I hate to heaven forbid, knock on wood, you you might die when you’re 50 and you maybeyou only got to 5,000 sunrises. Should you have watched those sunriseswith all those strangers when you didn’t get to 10,000? I I have yet to regret one.Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. And and most people sit back and they’re like,”Well, what should I do with my life? I don’t know what to do.” Just do something like just do just like stepin. Step in the arena. Like ser it’s not that hard. Choose an arena and step inand then you won’t be so depressed. You won’t be so shut down. You won’t be so unfulfilled in your life.I make it We make it sound so easy, but it is, isn’t it, Chase? Just to some extent it is. You’re right.I mean, uh, I I was just thinking about the the level of vulnerability that’srequired for some of these things. And and it’s not that you have to do the hardest thing straight out of the gate, you know, like uh shoot for the stars and you’ll hit the sky is what we’re talking about, right? Um, right. But it it sometimes it’s it’s just do something that is within actual rangeand give it a shot. See what happens. Like it’s just energy movement. If you’re stagnant, then it feels stagnant. But when you start like some inertia, like you start moving a little bit, you know? I was talking to someone lastweek and and I got to say, Chase, I got plenty of threshold guardians going on in my liferight now. And like in some ways I’m a hypocrite here and but but in other waysit’s like I’m not. So, I was talking to someone last week and they they were telling me about this uh platform andbook they want to do and and I was like, “Well, then do it. Like, do it.” And and they’re like, “Well, I you know, allthese can’ts.” And they’re like, “Well, I’m not resilient like you. You can just like dothis and do that. You started this. You you did that. You I’m like, “It’s not that I’m resilient.”like and and they’re saying I’m resilient to to the fear of other people’s judgment to I don’t I wouldn’tcall it resilience. Maybe I’m stupid, butmaybe we’re stupid, Chase. Yeah. Yeah. I know. No, it’s not resilience. What what it isbecause every time I step into something vulnerable, scary, or big, there’sthere’s a definite feeling of doubt and fear that comes up,right? And I would I would say it’s not resilience. It’s just persistencethrough that. It’s just like okay like it’s there. I’m not resilient to that. Ifeel it and I don’t I guess that is kind of resilience feeling. It’s it’s it’s I think it’s funny thougheven like that that probably is a a decent definition of resilience. But I think some people just assume that youjust have it or you don’t. Yeah. That’s what I’m trying to say. Yeah. that you be just naturally have itand therefore that’s why you’re able to everyone has it in them. Yeah. And and it’s like for for me my Imean I use this example with with the these little cards. How easy would it befor you Brandon to take one of these cards you hand painted to walk up to aman at the gym say hey buddy see you over here. I seeyou working out. What do you What do you say you and me? Only Chase, man. Go watch a sunrise today.I know. Yeah, that’s freaking awesome. Yeah. And uh do you know how much how much courage it takes to do that? Not much. Not much at all, actually, because I’m terrified. Every day I go do something like I’m terrified. I’m like, man, I don’t want to have to talk to this guy, but I I like feel it in my gut that I need to say something to him.Like, oh freak. Okay. Hey, what’s up, bro? Uh, yeah. Here’s my here’s mywatercolor sunrise. Will Will you help spot me? Oh, by the way, here’s my watercolor.Yeah, I was noticing your muscles. Uh, no. And and the funny thing is like Iget shot down and it stings. And there’s times where I’m like, why am I doing this? Like I I don’t knowif you had this experience where you know you you commit to a goal. You decide to do something insane uh you getpartway into it and then you you think to yourself, why am I doing this? I’vebeen failing so much. Why am I doing this? And it’s so easy at that point to say like I’m just going to throw in thetowel. This is I have thrown in the towel many times right there. Yeah. Right. And and maybe sometimes it’s theright thing to do. Sure. Um, but there’s also plenty of times where it’s where it’s not. Um, andyou never know how close you were. You know what I mean? I know. It’s just right over right overthat that little bit of fear or whatever. But what a what a beautiful thing tohave opportunities to lean into to fear. I think that’s really the biggest thingthat we’re talking about here is um just challenging all thepredisposition uh towards towards fear. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. I just I I Ilove what you’re talking about because it shows another like I I guess there’sum I don’t even want to call them ancillary, but there’s there’s thesethings that happen in your life that you don’t even realize are going to happenum when you when you just step forth. And like something like practicing getting rejected, like talk about that’sa awesome awesome thing to learn in your life, right? Um you probablydidn’t think when when you’re sitting in church that day, hey, this is going to lead to me getting rejected a bunch bygiving this card out. Like you weren’t thinking about that, right? Right. And yet God is giving you thisGod is giving you this growth through that experience. And that that in and ofitself is worth this goal, right? It’s that’s that’s awesome. Um but but it’sthose type of things that shut people down because in their fixed mindset, they’re thinking, “Oh, I’ll enjoy abeautiful sunset with a buddy or a friend that really likes me and that’s all it is.” And if and if it’s anythingdifferent than that, then it’s like, uhoh. Uh this is hard now. Huh? Likewhat? You know, most business owners know this cuz they’re like, “Hey, I’m going to start a business and it’ll besuccessful. We’ll make a bunch of money.” And then they get into it and they’re like, “Oh shit.” Like whoa, whoa, what did I And then then all the lessons start coming, all the learning, and yourefine your your business and your product and your offering to the world. And that’s how it happens.Um, and and so I think people really have a that that fixed mindset gets inthe way. I they want significance in their life. And and I think Chase, ifyou were out like, I’m doing this so everyone thinks I’m awesome and everyone can just say like, “Wow, look at you.”And then then I I get that all the time. Yeah. You wouldn’t be waking up at 3:30in the morning and be like, “Oh my gosh.” If that were the only reason you were doing this because there’s thingsthat nobody sees that you do in order to accomplish this goal. Well, it’s it’s uh it’s taking this thestep of faith, right? Uh when you answer a call like this and I I think about umwhat’s the the term? Ambiguous gain. It’s like you don’t know. You have noclue what you could possibly experience, what possible good you could experience. You just have a feeling. And I I love I love when I act in that feeling. Um, youknow, there there’s a a few other times that I’ve I’ve done things like that and fallen flat on my face andstill loved it. I love your stories with that. Like uh Yeah, because you’ve heard you’veheard plenty. I mean, did you you saw my uh my standup special? My open mic night. Yeah, he’s done standup TED talks likeall kinds of stuff. Oh, dude. Don’t don’t even mention that.Yeah. Yeah. But but those things, those experiences looking back like Yeah. You couldprobably tap into the like some of the cringe of it like, oh, oh, that was like really uncomfortable.Um, but you look back and it’s like, did you learn? Did you grow?Yeah. Did you have an experience? Uh, living isn’t just the fun stuff, right? You know, you know, it’s like when you rode your bike, you you had to ride uphill a lot and your legs burned. Itwasn’t just it wasn’t just rolling down enjoying the scenery. Yeah. Yeah. I there was a day I I bikeda total of 12 miles and I biked all day.Oh my gosh. Oh yeah. So it’s not all just coasting, butyou know, and and you know, just rolling with that metaphor, it’s it’s amazing how much you’ll you’ll confront, butit’s so cool the the stories that you come away with and just the richness of your your own life. Yeah.I I love it. And isn’t that what it’s about? Yeah. like in the end. And I thinkthat’s why when people don’t have a something that’s or they’re not livingon the edge, they don’t have this thing. That’s why they feel like there’s got to be something more.Yeah. Yeah. I’ I’ve got a I’ve got a story I want to share that I I feel like is uhkind of embodies a a lot of what we’re talking about here. So when um when I was in college, I I went to FloridaState University and I had a professor that I really admired for his brutality. He uh every class he made somebody cry. And I and I’m I’m almost not jokingabout those numbers. Um it was amazing how much he could critique a piece allthe way to the point where you’re questioning your selfworth. Um, so there was a point, but he made amazing art andhe was the Simon Cal of professors. Yes, absolutely. Great analogy. U, so Iwent and talked to him during office hours one day. I said, “Hey, hey, man. Iwant to be an artist. I I see you out here. You’ve you’ve you’ve made it.You’re you’re like the farthest along that I’ve ever seen. Like your work’s getting published. You’re getting commissioned art pieces. Like, how doyou how do you do it?” And he said, “Chase, um, do you do you like dogs?” He’s like,”Yeah, man. I like dogs.” He’s like, “How do you feel about surfing?” I was like, “Dude, I love surfing. I, youknow, I’m just eating this up. I’m like just just going with it.” And he’s like, “You should move, get a dog, move to thebeach because you will never make it as an artist.” I was like, “Oh,thanks.” And and to some extent he was serious like he you know it’s just thickindustry out there but he was he he rebuttled it with the best chance thatyou have of becoming an artist and not not just the applicability here for that domain but just in life is to make coolwith cool people. Yeah. And that ever since every everyproject that I’ve ever done that’s been in conjunction with somebody else has been amazing. Um you know even the work that that thethree of us get to do. I love it. Like I that’s ex we’re embodying that. Um do you remember thefirst retreat that we ever hosted together and just how absurd it was? I mean it was a crap show, dude. It was itwas bonkers. Um and yet someone some people got stuff out of it, you know? Some people gotsome. I think we made a total of 250 bucks uh to split between the three of us.I definitely lost money with my gas with my gas money going up. It was amazing. Um and I wouldn’t tradethat experience for anything. You know, what a joy that we got to have that. And it was it was learning profound. Umabsolutely out there. We we we crossed some challenged some threshold guardiansto get there. And I I mean that’s what we’re talking about though. Umthat that is that is living. And so it’s not about it’s not about the outcome. It’s aboutthe day in and and and dayout inputs of your life and choosing to step in. Andum and and what’s awesome is it’s available for everybody to do it. Imean, we we live here in America with freedom and opportunity and we can absolutely put oursel out thereand um and try whatever we’re called to. And some people will be called to onething and some will be called to another. Not everybody’s riding their bike across the country. Um, but youknow, if you’ve been listening to us today, I and it sparked something inside of you, I would just say take that sparkand actually do something with it. Um, at least to the point where a threshold guardian’s coming up and saying, “Oh,this is stupid.” At least you got to that point, right? Yeah. But then, but then keep going, youknow, like keep going even after that and see what happens. Um, we’re not talking about this just because likeit’s a it’s a fun topic. This is essential to your mental health and toyour happiness. Um, and um, God wants you to do it. So,Chase, any last words? Just reiterate, answer the call. You know, if you’re feeling that, answer it.Just answer the call. Amen. All right, you guys. If this was helpful, please share it or leave areview and shout out to Chase. And um till next time, keep on keeping on.We’ll see you.Okay, we’re stopped on YouTube. So, do I needto stop it here? So, up in the top corner, does it uh topright corner for you? Do you see where it says YouTube?
